IPL 2021: “Travelling back home is a small issue compared to situation outside IPL bubble” – Ricky Ponting

“Hopefully, there are a number of people in India who get enjoyment by watching IPL cricket,” said Ricky Ponting.

Post the Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s clarification about cricketers contending in the IPL 2021 should make their “own courses of action” to get back,  anxiety arouses for the Australian players.

Replying to the comment, Ricky Ponting, the former Australian captain and Delhi Capitals head coach said, “On daily basis, we are thinking about what’s happening outside and we understand how blessed we are to be doing what we are doing.”

“Hopefully, there are a number of people in India who get enjoyment by watching IPL cricket.” He added.

A second influx of COVID-19 pandemic has cleared India and the nation is recording more than 3 lakh COVID-19 cases every day since the last couple of days, leaving the wellbeing framework wrecked.

Ricky Ponting also said that “it’s a little issue when contrasted with the bedlam set off continuously wave of COVID-19 diseases here.”

However, three Australian players have already left the competition in the midst of the alarming situation, while the others being here BCCI have made an assurance that all the overseas players will return home safely after the IPL is over.

“No doubt there have been few distractions, but the travel side for us and Australians who are here is only a small issue,” said Ricky Ponting in a virtual press conference.
