IPL 2021: CA interim CEO Nick Hockley says, “Grateful to BCCI for getting our players home quickly and safely”

Interim CEO of Cricket Australia Nick Hockley said that CA is thankful to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)  for quick and safe travel of Australia contingent from the Maldives to their respective home.

On Monday, May 17, interim CEO of Cricket Australia Nick Hockley said that CA is thankful to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)  for the quick and safe travel of Australia contingent from the Maldives to their respective home.

The Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) postponed this season of the Indian Premier League (IPL-2021) on May 4 after a rapid increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in India and also many players and supporting staff affected by this deadly virus.  And the entire Australian contingent had traveled to the Maldives due to a travel ban from India to Australia.

Sydney Morning Herald quoted CA’s CEO Hockley as saying, “We’re delighted. We’re really grateful to the BCCI for getting them home quickly and safely. I have never spoken to them since they’ve landed, but obviously, we’ve been in text exchange and I am sure they’ll be very relieved and really appreciative to be home.”

From last week onward, Sandpaper Gate is again in the news just after Bancroft revealed about the three people (Bancroft, Warner, and Smith) who knew the difficulty of the ball-tampering issue.

Nick Hockley was also seen as confident about the upcoming limited-overs series of Australia against the West Indies. Hockley said, “We plan each tour as we go. we have got a touch of your time now before West Indies. International cricket will get to support one another, we have seen last summer, with India coming here, what an excellent series that was, and we’re committed to supporting other cricketing nations around the world.”
