The AFP sources said that the questioning of a medical team is under private investigation for manslaughter over the death of legend Diego Maradona in Argentina last year which has been delayed until June 14. Seven members of Maradona’s medical team were left to be questioned by investigating judges on Monday, who would then decide whether charges should be suppressed against them.
They get charged and found to be guilty they might face imprisonment for eight to 25 years as per the law. The legend had passed away due to cardiac arrest in November 2020 soon after undergoing brain surgery on a blood clot. The prosecutors believed that Maradona’s death was the result of malpractice or illegal actions by his doctors which led to worsening his health conditions and resulted in his death.
A month ago, an investigating expert medical panel concluded that he was left to his fate for a prolonged, agonizing period before his death. The legal proceedings were prompted through a complaint filed by two of Maradona’s five daughters against his neurosurgeon, Leopoldo Luque who responded sobbingly to the accusations by saying that he did everything he could no matter even if it was impossible for unmanageable patient. Maradona is an idol to millions of Argentinas and across the globe after he inspired the South American country to only their second World Cup triumph in 1986.
