After extending the contract of their head coach Thomas Tuchel till June 2024, Champions of Europe who beat Premier League winning Manchester City 1-0, announces extension for the Brazilian centre-back Thiago Silva and French forward, Olivier Giroud.
The 36 years old Brazilian has scored twice and appeared 34 times for the club in all competitions winning his first Champions League title with the club.
“When we bought Silva last summer, we knew we were adding a world-class player to the squad. He has fully shown his immense quality to everyone at Chelsea throughout the season”, said Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia to the club website.
Veteran centre-back arrived on a free transfer last year from French club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). “I am very happy and proud to announce today my contract extension until 2022 with Chelsea FC!! Proud to be part of the Chelsea family”, tweets Silva.

Just after declaring an official announcement for Silva, the Premier League club confirms the contract extension of 34 years old Olivier Giroud who will stay at Stamford Bridge until 2022 where he has spent three-and-a-half years. The French striker has contributed to many important moments for the newly crowned Champions League winners. From his contribution in the 2018 FA Cup victory to scoring 11 goals towards winning the 2019 Europa League.
Along with these proclamations, Chelsea officially reports the Argentine International, Willy Caballero, who joined the club from Manchester City in 2017 will no longer play at Stamford Bridge as their goalkeeper.
The Blues reported their UEFA Super Cup venue earlier today, where they will face Villarreal later in this summer, the club which eliminated Manchester United on penalties to win the Europa League. The Champions of Europe and The Champions of Europa League will be facing each other on August 11, in Northern Ireland for the Super Cup.
