HDFC assures Rs 40 crore as an initial amount, for COVID 19 relief

The second wave of COVID-19 have been miserable with death and several medical emergency crisis. In the wake of this uncalled crisis, HDFC Ltd has proposed an initial amount of Rs 40 crore for COVID-19 support through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative. It also pledged to increase the proposed amount over the coming two quarters on the grounds of need. HDFC Ltd and HT Parekh Foundation in their statement suggested that the COVID-19 initiatives are being undertaken through its philanthropic arm.

HDFC further assured that through partnership along with government and charitable hospitals, it has determined healthcare initiatives to support long term health infrastructure across the country. It confirmed that it is set to build around 10 oxygen enrichment plants to meet the medical oxygen demands. The healthcare support comprises direct procurement and distribution of almost 80 high quality ICU ventilators, to support critical patients in hospitals across Karnataka, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.

HDFC chairman Deepak Parekh voiced, “It is critical to strike a balance to address the immediate needs for healthcare, longer term needs for supporting livelihood, and building a more resilient health infrastructure in the country.” He further informed that besides their healthcare investment, they are also providing humanitarian support to the most vulnerable groups, including children, migrants, senior citizens, critically ill patient and person with disabilities to ensure that these people are protected. “We stand committed to our country and hope for a positive future.” expressed Deepak Parekh.
