Goa and Kerala enter mutual agreement for 30,000 electric vehicles

Goa and Kerala have come together in signing a mutual agreement with Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), a fully-owned subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), to get hold of more than 30,000 electric two wheeler and three wheeler for the state. This mutual agreement was signed by both the states, Goa and Kerala on 5 June marked as World Environment Day.

It is claimed that these electric vehicles will be used by different government agencies including government employees and goods delivering employees. Following which two wheeler electric vehicles will be granted for the government employees and three wheeler electric vehicles for delivering goods.

The agreements between CESL and the government of Goa and Kerala will also focus on development of EV charging infrastructures on expressways and highways of the states.

CESL have also signed strategic partnership with various companies namely TVS Motor Company, Fortum India, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEM), JBM Renewables Pvt. Ltd. for developing electric vehicles. Under these agreements CESL have claimed to be investing in establishing the charging infrastructures and monitoring their utilization in the environment.

However, about the agreement, Nilesh Cabral, Minister of Power, Environment, New and Renewable Energy, Government of Goa said that this agreement will lead Goa in direction of a green state.
