Portuguese MotoGP rider Miguel Oliveira wins the Catalan GP as his first 2021 victory beating Johann Zarco of Ducati satellite team Pramac, after his charge up to P2 which is now the riders third race win in Catalunya.
Jack Miller of Ducati from Australia gets hold of third place after championship commander Fabio Quartararo, Yamaha rider who dropped fourth was hit with a penalty of three seconds and missed his track with few laps from the end.
“Second is 20 points again and that’s something I appreciate a lot”, said J. Zarco to BT Sport on finishing second.
Johann Zarco took his fourth podium of the year that made his 2021 most successful in the premier class. Motorcycle racer from Portugal had finished as runner-up in the Moto2 World Championship of 2018. Veteran rider has experience of playing for the Estrella Galicia 0,0 team in 2012, in 2013 he competed for the Mahindra Racing team and finished as a runner-up with Red Bull KTM Ajo team in the year 2015.
“It was probably one of the best races in my career. I was not super fast, but I was consistent. It paid off”, said Miguel Oliveira on winning the game.
The Catalan GP result ended up with M. Oliveira (KTM) at number 1 position followed by J. Marco (Ducati) at 2, J. Miller (Ducati) number 3, F. Quartararo (Yamaha) 4 and J.Mir of Suzuki from Sapin at 5.
“I made a few too many little mistakes. We’ve got a bit of work to do but we’re not too far away. I lost the Ducati race to Johann today. We’ll have to try and get him back next week”, said Miller on his P3.
Oliveira takes up the applause and gets cheered up in front of fans after his outstanding victory.
