To expand tech, Uber to hire 250 engineers in India

The hiring will strengthen the company”s driver growth, eats and digital payments, a statement from Uber said.

On Wednesday, the American technology company Uber announced that it will be recruiting close to 250 engineers for its Bengaluru and Hyderabad-based teams. The company is continuing to expand the scope of its operations for its engineering and product work in India.

Uber’s rider and driver growth, eats, delivery, digital payments, ad-tech, infrastructure etc. will strengthen by this new recruitment, according to its statement.

Currently, roles are divided between its Hyderabad and Bengaluru tech centres. Uber said its expansion plans lines with its vision to delivery and mobility more accessible in India. It aims to become the backbone of transportation in over 10,000 cities across the world.

“Our teams in Hyderabad and Bengaluru work on important global authorities, and pioneer various industry-first innovations”, said Senior Director of Engineering, Manikandan Thangarathnam. “In order to serve more people across the world, we are expanding our teams and are looking for bright engineering minds”, he added.

Uber is starting to reach out to prospective candidates for building its new teams or adding to the existing ones. It is looking forward to improving Uber infrastructure, Eats, Marketplace, Risk and Payments, Uber for Business (U4B), marketing and advertising platforms.

Uber’s tech team have invested to build technology to enable safer rides to its users. Its engineers have been accelerating digital payments for more effective social distancing in various countries.
