The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was joined by Congress leader Jitin Prasada on today in the presence of union minister Piyush Goyal.
Prasada said that there is only one national party that exists in India which is the BJP while abiding a goodbye to the Congress and joining hands with the BJP as a fresh chapter. According to him, since the last 8 to 10 years he felt that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the only party which is truly national while the other parties are regional, as he addressed the BJP headquarters.
Prasada said that he was not allowed to work in Congress and felt no relevance of staying in such a party where you cannot work for your people or to protect their interests. Prasada went and met the Union minister Piyush Goyal at his residence in Delhi before switching to the saffron party (BJP). Prasada was a former Union minister who had sent a letter to high command seeking an active and full time party president. The 47 year old is also a special invitee to the congress working committee (CWC).
The post of Congress president was unsuccessfully contested by Jitendra Prasada, father of Jitin, against Sonia Gandhi in the past as reported by the district Congress committee. A resolution was passed against Jitin by the Lakhimpur Kheri District Congress to take strict action against him after he joining the BJP. Jitin Prasada was asked to handle the West Bengal elections where Congress had performed poorly as his last assignment.
