Ahead of the World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand, former New Zealand coach Mike Hesson said Rishabh Pant’s newly established confidence is helping him perform to his approach and play the way he wants to at the highest level. Hesson added Pant will bat at No. 6 in the World Test Championship final, in which he is expected to make awards.
“I think he’s more confident, more settled on the international stage now. Therefore, he’s able to play the way he wants to play. He has earned enough credit within his team as well,” Hesson told the Press Trust of India.
Earlier this year, Rishabh Pant had lost his place in the white-ball and was also not picked for the series-opening Test in Australia. The young wicketkeeper-batsman got an opportunity to be part of the playing XI after India made changes to the side following their defeat in the first Test.
The young talented wicketkeeper-batsman made a winning comeback on the Australia tour with two sensational knocks that helped him to take his spot in the Indian team. After a fearless 97 in the Sydney Test that India managed to draw, he hit a match-winning 89 not out in India’s historic win at Gabba earlier this year.
Pant carried forward his good form from the Australia tour and dominated the England bowling attack during the 4-Test series at home. Pant showcased his open approach, best against English bowlers.
