The encounter was carried out by Punjab Police and STF. The gangster and his aide Jaspreet Singh were killed in Kolkata’s New Town area.
It has been said by the officers that there were over 50 criminal cases registered against Jaipal Bhullar in police stations of Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab. He was on the list of most wanted criminals in Punjab. Jaipal had a bounty of 10 lakhs issued by the Punjab Police and Jaspreet was carrying a bounty of 5 lakhs for any information about the gangsters.
During this operation, the two gangsters opened fire at the STF and the Punjab Police. Both the gangsters were killed in the firing which took place on Wednesday. One officer was reported suffering injuries during the encounter.
After the encounter, the police recovered 89 rounds of ammunition, 7 lakh rupees in cash, and 5 automatic guns from the flat. A tip-off about the hiding of an arms dealer resulted in this encounter of Jaipal and Jaspreet in a residential complex in the New town area of Kolkata.
The officials deployed in the area were Rapid Action Force (RAF), Biddhanagar Commissioner Police, Additional Director General (STF) and other senior officers. A video of the encounter site was also shot by onlookers which became viral on social media.
