On June 10, e-commerce company Flipkart, introduced an unlimited medical insurance cover policy for more than 15,000 full-time employees. The policy will cover all medical expenses and cost of hospitalization, without any payment for premium by employees.
According to BusinessLine, the medical insurance policy includes the mental well-being cover for every treatment, enhancement in maternity limits, advance procedures and non-medical critical illness cover with lump sum payment, over and above medical cover for employees and their spouses.
The Chief People Officer of Flipkart, Krishna Raghavan, said, “The safety and well-being of our employees remain paramount and it is our constant endeavour to update our policies. Since the onset of the pandemic, we have gained valuable insights from the voices of our employees and a deep understanding of their priorities.” In addition, he stated that the company is keen to use the learnings to design and create policies that would put their employees at the centre stage.
“We remain strongly committed to our extended Flipkart family and their well-being, as they navigate various circumstances during this time”, he concluded.
The updated policy will continue in the post-pandemic world as well. Employees are provided with a choice to pick covers for their families, including children and both sets of parents.
Flipkart has been covering the vaccination costs for corporate and supply chain employees along with five dependents. As of now, over 15,000 employees and their families have been vaccinated. In the upcoming weeks, it aims to vaccinate 50,000 employees.
