Oscar-nominated actor Ned Beatty, who is known for his performances in movies like Deliverance, Network, and Superman, has passed away at the age of 83. The actor was known for his booming and indelible presence even in the smallest parts. According to a statement issued by Beatty’s manager, Deborah Miller, Beatty died on Sunday due to natural causes at his residence in Los Angeles, and the actor was surrounded by friends and loved ones at the time of passing.
Beatty was one of the topmost character actors in film during the 1970s and has appeared in more than 160 films. He was also nominated for Academy Award, Emmy Awards, MTV Movie Awards, Golden Globe Award, and Drama Desk Award. The actor also found great commercial success in projects like Deliverance, Friendly Fire, Hear My Song, All the President’s men, Silver Streak, Exorcist II: The Heretic, Superman, Superman II, The Toy, The Fourth Protocol, Repossessed, Rudy, Just Cause, Life, Where the Red Fern Grows, Shooter, Charlie Wilson’s War, Toy Story 3, and Rango. He retired in the year 2013.
Ned Thomas Beatty was born in Louisville in the year 1937 and was raised in Lexington, and had joined the Protestant Disciples of Christ Christian Church. At a point, he considered becoming a priest but later changed his mind after he got the taste of acting as he was cast in a high school production of the acclaimed play, Harvey. Ned Beatty is survived by wife Sandra Johnson, who he married in the year 1999, and eight children from three previous marriages.
