Arvind Kejriwal to train “5,000 Health Assistants” to avoid COVID third wave

Kejriwal said that the training will be held at nine major medical institutes in Delhi. These assistants will not make medical decisions themselves, but would work under the doctors and nurses. They will be given training as paramedics, life saving, first-aid, and home care.

On Wednesday, Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal said that the Delhi Government would train 5,000 youth as health assistants in the coming weeks to prepare for the possible third COVID-19 wave.

Arvind Kejriwal in a press conference said that in the past few days preparations were being made to protect Delhi from a possible third wave. He said that they have set up oxygen plants and made arrangements for oxygen concentrators, store tanks and cylinders. He pointed out that during each waves of COVID-19 there had been shortage of medical and paramedical staff. So in accordance to that, the government made an ambitious plan to prepare 5,000 health assistants, also known as “community nursing assistants.” The training will be done at the Guru Gobind Singh Indra Prastha University.

Kejriwal said that the training will be held at nine major medical institutes in Delhi. These assistants will not make medical decisions themselves, but would work under the doctors and nurses. They will be given training as paramedics, life saving, first-aid, and home care.

He added that The health assistants will be called to work as and when the need arises and will be paid accordingly to number of days worked. The strength of each batch would be 500, anyone above 18 or above is eligible for job, and have passed their class 12 examinations.

From June 17 onwards the online application for the same would be started, and training will begin June 28. Applications would be accepted on first come first serve basis. This would help strengthen their efforts to combat third wave. He also added that they have keep these developments in mind and make sure that there was nothing lacking in their efforts.
