FIR filed against two laboratories for issuing fake COVID-19 reports during Kumbh Mela

For allegedly issuing fake rapid antigen test reports to make a financial profit during the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar, the Uttarakhand police on Thursday lodged an FIR against a private agency and two laboratories.

This came in when a three-member inquiry panel set up by the Haridwar district magistrate had submitted a preliminary report on Wednesday which was mentioned in a complaint to the police by SK Jha, Chief Medical Officer. Nearly a month earlier, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) had forwarded a complaint to the state health department on 14th May mentioning that despite no collection of the sample, a person’s Aadhaar and mobile number being used for the COVID-19 test.

With around 3,825 samples being collected from a single address and 56 people registered with a single phone number, the inquiry panel figured out that the firm had made a large number of entries on the same sample ID as per the CMO’s complaint.

An FIR had been lodged on the CMO’s complaint against two labs including Nalwa Laboratories Private Limited, Hisar and Dr Lal Chandani La, Delhi along with the frim Max Corporate Service Kumbh Mela and necessary actions will be taken against the mentioned accused as said by Santhil Avodai Krishna Raj S, Haridwar SSP. Under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 269, 270, 420, 468, 471, 120B, 188 along with provisions of the Disaster Management Act and Epidemic Diseases Act, the FIR has been lodged as mentioned by Rajesh Shah, SHO of Kotwali Nagar police.
