On Thursday, Fortis Healthcare declared that Sputnik V COVID 19 vaccine will be available at two of its hospitals from June 19 as a part of limited pilot roll-out .
The two dose of the COVID 19 vaccine shot will be accessible at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram and Fortis Hospital, Mohali. It further affirmed that it accessibility will be stretched at more Fortis hospitals across 11 cities. The price per dose of Sputnik V vaccine is kept as fixed by the government including administrative charges of Rs 1,145.
Fortis Healthcare MD and CEO, Dr. Ashutosh Raghuvanshi revealed in a statement, “Till date, our units were providing Covaxin and Covishield. We are pleased to announce that Fortis, in collaboration with Dr. Reddy’s laboratories.” He further stated that Fortis is among the first to offer a third vaccine option along with a dual objective of expanding and scaling up vaccination drive and lessening the infection risks to future mutation of the virus.
Dr. Ashutosh Raghuvanshi urged the Indian Citizen to vaccinate themselves and support to make the vaccination drive successful. Furthermore, he explained if individuals get vaccinated and follow COVID 19 appropriate behavior then it will be possible to break the chain of infections and community transmission. He added that it is essential to follow all recommended measures by the government to protect ourselves, our families and loved ones and thereby prevent a possible third wave.
In India, Sputnik V is the third vaccine to get through for the immunization programme after Covaxin and Covishield. The vaccine is manufactured by Russia’s Gamaleya National Centre. It uses two different vectors for the two shots in a course of vaccination. The vaccine provides immunity with a longer duration than vaccines using the same delivery mechanism for both shots. Sputnik V was released in the last August and marked to be the first vaccine against COVID 19 in the world.
