To build 5G networks in India, TCS announces collaboration with Bharti Airtel

For the implementation of 5G networks solutions for India, a strategic partnership has been announced by Bharti Airtel and Tata Group. Along with starting the pilot in January 2022, as a part of its 5G rollout plans in India, this indigenous solution will be deployed and pilot by Airtel, as mentioned by the companies in a statement as per the guidelines formulated by the Government of India.

Leveraging the Group capabilities and that of its partners, the Tata Group has integrated a completely indigenous telecom stack along with developing a ‘state of the art’ O-RAN based radio and NSA/SA Core. The above mentioned should be available for commercial development starting in January 2022 as per the statement added.

As the network and equipment are increasingly embedded into software, to help in aligning the end-to-end solution to both 3GPP and O-RAN standards, Tata Consultancy Services is bringing its global system integration expertise.

Based on standard open interfaces and those defined by ORAN Alliance, these Made in India 5G product and solutions are aligned to global standards and interoperate with other products. The 5G solutions shall open export opportunities for India once commercially proven in Airtel’s diverse and brownfield network, it added.

To make India a global hub for 5G and Allied technology’s, they are delighted to join forces with the Tata Group, as mentioned by MD & CEO (India and South Asia) Bharti Airtel, Gopal Vittal. India shall receive a massive boost in becoming an innovation and manufacturing destination through this, he added.
