Several important announcements regarding Reliance Industries Limited upcoming ventures were being made during the 44th annual general meeting of the company on Thursday by Mukesh Ambani. During the meeting, the collaboration of JioPhone Next with Google was announced by the company. Jointly developed by Google and Reliance Jio, the phone will go on sale from 10th September in India running on an optimized version of android.
As mentioned by Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, JioPhone Next will be one of the most affordable smartphones in the market. Talking about the partnership on the 4G phone Google CEO Sundar Pichai was also on stage. Support for the latest Android updates, translation along with smart cameras is included in the phone as mentioned by Pichai while the price for the smartphone has not yet been announced.
Jio shall be shifting its retail business to Google cloud businesses as Jio and Google Cloud are partnering on 5G as well. Being the largest fixed broadband fibre Internet provider in the nation, Jio fibre now has over 3 million users with its presence in over 100 cities.
Although the detailed specifications of the device are not yet disclosed it runs on an android version specifically designed for this device. The price of the smartphone is not revealed yet but since it is an affordable phone, it could cost under ₹8,000.
According to a tweet by the Press Trust of India, the smartphone shall be available from 10th September, being the most affordable smartphone globally as claimed by Mukesh Ambani.
