After being administered the Chinese vaccine Sinovac, several front health workers along with doctors at the centre of the coronavirus disease management in Indonesia are turning sick with many of them losing their lives in an unfortunate turn of events. At least 20 doctors were attested to have been dead by the Indonesian Medical Association since the pandemic began and were fully vaccinated with Sinovac Biotech which is a Chinese made vaccine according to a report carried by The New York Times on Friday.
A frontline healthcare medical worker at the town of Kudus in Java, Dr. Suhendro Sastrowiwoho was among those public health professionals who had died after being vaccinated with Sinovac. After testing positive for COVID-19 on 18th June, he died just days after it despite receiving a double dose of the Chinese made vaccine before testing positive.
During 2 weeks, in the small town of Kudus, around 358 medical workers who were completely vaccinated with the Chinese made vaccine turned out to be tested positive for COVID-19 as reported by The New York Times, citing the risk mitigation of the Indonesian Doctors Association.
Although the inoculation campaign started back in January, less than 5% of the Indonesian population has currently been vaccinated. Against certain COVID-19 variants, Sinovac is believed to be less effective while most of those who are vaccinated received doses of the Chinese made the vaccine. A surge in infections is being battled by other countries like Mongolia, Seychelles and Bahrain who had confidence in the easily accessible Chinese made vaccine.
