Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on the occasion of International Day against drug abuse and Illicit Trafficking praise all those individuals who are fighting the country’s war against drug abuse. He further condemned the use of drug and stated that it is a social evil that bring “darkness, destruction and devastation.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi through a tweet expressed that on International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, he lauds all those who are working at the grassroot to eliminate the menace of drugs from our society. He added that every efforts to ‘save lives’ is important.
On the occasion, he too shared an old episode from his monthly radio programme ‘Mann ki Baat’ where he enlightened about various ways to fight the menace. He wrote, ” Let us reiterate our commitment to share facts on drugs and realize our vision of a drug free India.” He further urged the citizen to keep in mind that addiction is neither cool nor a style statement.

Union Home Minister, Amit Shah too tweeted that on International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government reiterates its commitment towards the Zero tolerance policy against all kinds of narcotics. He further applauded the efforts of Narcotics Bureau personnel towards eliminating the drug menace in India.

International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is observed every year on 26th June to mark the efforts of the activists and organization who fights drug abuse and raise awareness among individuals about the global drug problem.
In this year, the day focused to make people aware of the damage misinformation regarding drugs could cause and encourage the exchange of facts related to drugs. “Share Drug Facts to Save Lives” is the theme followed for the day this year.
