In a mysterious explosion which also damaged nearby buildings, the roof of a madrasa in Bihar’s Banka district collapsed today morning. Although there are no signs of any casualties yet a probe has been ordered into the incident triggering tension in the locality.
Around 8 am in one of the rooms of the Navtolia madrasa building, the explosion is suspected to have taken place, the building comes under the Town police station area. Initially the police thought that the explosion might have been caused by gelatine (an explosive combination of chemicals).
The spot was visited by a dog squad, anti-terrorism squads (ATS) and a bomb squad besides the Banka police after the explosion took place. No theory including suggestions have yet been rolled out by the officials stating how the explosion could have taken place outside the madrasa or it could also have been caused by an LPG cylinder other than the one suggesting that the locked room might be contained with some possible explosives.
A preliminary opinion shall be provided by the forensic team who picked up some samples from the site as said by Arvind Kumar Gupta, Banka police chief (SP) adding that they are waiting for the results to come while visiting the site. Under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under section 5 of the Explosive Act against unknown persons have been registered with respect to explosive substances in a case of criminal conspiracy and negligent conduct. An intense probe into the incident has been ordered by Bihar home department.
