Aamir Khan dismisses rumours of regretting his cameo in Rajinikanth’s Coolie

Aamir Khan’s team clarified that the actor never criticised Rajinikanth’s blockbuster Coolie or called his cameo a mistake, busting a viral fake newspaper clipping.

Actor Aamir Khan has shut down speculation around his role in Rajinikanth’s latest hit, Coolie. Over the weekend, a supposed newspaper clipping went viral on social media, claiming that the superstar regretted his cameo and had labelled the film a “big mistake.”

Addressing the rumours, Aamir’s spokesperson issued a statement, firmly denying the claims. “Mr Aamir Khan has given no such interview and has made no negative comments about the film Coolie,” the statement read. They further stressed that he holds “the highest regard for Mr Rajinikanth, Mr Lokesh and in fact the entire team of Coolie.”

The clarification also highlighted the film’s success, noting that Coolie has already crossed ₹500 crore at the box office. “The film has done over ₹500 crore at the box office, which speaks for itself,” the spokesperson added.

Coolie, which released on August 14, was directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, best known for films like Kaithi, Master, Leo and Vikram. The Tamil blockbuster features Rajinikanth in the lead, with Aamir Khan playing a gangster named Dahaa in a cameo. The star-studded cast also includes Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir and Upendra.

While some critics questioned Aamir’s decision to take on the role, the actor had earlier explained that he agreed to the project mainly for the opportunity to share screen space with Rajinikanth. The film is currently streaming on Prime Video after its record-breaking theatrical run.
