Aaron Taylor-Johnson has a bone to pick with his former wife/sister Elizabeth Olsen over his mangled Marvel career

Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s latest film, Kraven the Hunter, presents a bit of a double-edged sword for the actor. On one hand, it’s his first solo Marvel film after being killed off as Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron, offering him a significant moment in the superhero spotlight. On the other hand, the film is part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU), a franchise notorious for underperforming and struggling with critical reception. This adds a layer of frustration for Taylor-Johnson, as it feels like a missed opportunity to rejoin the MCU in a meaningful way, especially after his character was so quickly disposed of in Age of Ultron.

In a recent interview, Taylor-Johnson reflected on his past collaboration with Elizabeth Olsen, his on-screen sister in Avengers and wife in Godzilla. While he praised her as a phenomenal actor and person, he couldn’t help but wonder why his character, Quicksilver, wasn’t resurrected, especially given Wanda Maximoff’s incredible abilities in the MCU. He jokingly directed his question at Olsen, though it’s likely Marvel Studios executives would be the ones to explain the absence of his character. It’s particularly frustrating for Taylor-Johnson when he sees that Evan Peters, playing a different version of Quicksilver, has appeared multiple times in the MCU.

There is still hope, however, that Taylor-Johnson could make a return to the MCU, possibly in Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027, where a reunion between his Quicksilver and Peters’ version could be a major moment. However, his current association with Kraven the Hunter and the lackluster reception of the film could hurt his standing in future MCU projects, including rumored James Bond opportunities. Despite the setbacks, a return to the MCU could still be on the table, especially if he finds himself with more free time after the fallout from Kraven. Here’s hoping Marvel might give him another chance to revive Quicksilver.
