Aaron Taylor-Johson’s “Kraven the Hunter” role would not have been possible without his amazing “Bullet Train” performance.
Taylor-Johnson played Quicksilver in the 2015 Marvel Cinematic Universe film “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” Many people expected Taylor-Johnson to have a longer run in the MCU, however, the Joss Whedon-directed film killed him off. In a 2015 interview with CinemaBlend, the actor showed interest in returning to the Marvel franchise saying, “I mean, I thoroughly enjoyed working on [this movie], and would love to do, I would love to [be] doing more movies with the guys at Marvel.” That, of course, did not happen, since the MCU does not appear to be interested in bringing Quicksilver back.
However, the actor has already landed another big Marvel role, thanks to Sony Pictures. Taylor-Johnson is set to portray Kraven the Hunter in Sony’s “Spider-Man” universe. As per the Deadline, Taylor-Johnson’s performance in “Bullet Train” compelled Sony executives to offer the English actor the Kraven role. They were especially amazed by his ability to hold his own against Brad Pitt in several scenes. Sony decided they had to bring the “Bullet Train” actor on board for their upcoming superhero film after seeing his performance.
Taylor-Johnson is a great fit for the role, according to Sony Pictures CEO and Chairman Tom Rothman, who told Esquire that “when a guy can hold up his end of the tennis match with Brad Pitt… you should pay attention,” referring to the Marvel star’s “Bullet Train” performance.
“Kraven the Hunter” will be released in theatres on August 30, 2024.
