Abhijit Mazumdar’s debut feature film “Body” has been selected as an official selection for the 29th International Film Festival of Kerala in New Delhi. The festival will take place in Thiruvananthapuram from from December 13 to December 20.
A news statement states that “Body” will be shown at the IFFK in the International Competition section. The 142-minute movie, which is set in the post-pandemic era, centres on Manoj, a young actor who is still attempting to deal with his own trauma. Manoj embarks on a convoluted voyage of uncertainty and intrigue after he befriends a young child who lives in the flat next from his and is frequently abused by his father.
Asper Mazumdar, a graduate from the Film & Television Institute of India, quoted, “Body” was motivated by a recurrent dream in which he was naked in front of people. He said, “What does being completely nude mean? I keep thinking about this image over time because of a sense of silent despair. a public image of a nude man that conveys the depths of anguish, suffering, and bewilderment.”
“What is meant by abstract? How do we go about dealing with actual space and time to get there? How does the audience react to it? And above all, what is true? I attempt to ask these questions when Manoj starts stripping in public.”
“He has vivid memories of the pandemic’s horrifying pictures. He makes a desperate attempt to swap them out for fresh pictures. I’m trying to follow the path of his troubled mind,” the director stated.
The cast of “Body” includes Manoj Sharma, Khushboo Upadhyay, Sunil Shanbag, Sandeep Shridhar Dhabale, Amol Deshmukh, Jatin Negi, Kritika Pande, Shivam Parekh, and Sarthak Pandey. The film, which Amala Popuri is producing, was also written by Mazumdar. Aashish Dubey joined as an associate producer.
