Accidental crossbar challenge: Virat Kohli’s free kick attempt ends up hitting crossbar

If the Indian Premier League (IPL) had not been stopped owing to a few players and ground personnel testing positive for COVID-19, Indian skipper Virat Kohli might have played in the first qualifier or waited for Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) turn in the eliminator. However, Kohli is currently taking free kicks in preparation for the World Test Championship final and a lengthy tour of England.

Kohli shared a video on Twitter; of himself taking a free kick that hits the crossbar. The post’s caption stated, “Accidental crossbar challenge.”

Kohli has already appeared in a charity match between All Hearts and All Stars a few years beforehand. He captained the All Hearts cricket team to a 7-3 victory over Ranbir Kapoor’s All Stars squad. Kohli also managed to score the game’s last goal in the 92nd minute.

The World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand is set to begin on June 18 at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. Meanwhile, the rest of the IPL 2021 is set to continue tentatively on September 18 or 19 in the UAE, with the final on October 9 or 10.

“The BCCI has communicated with all parties, and the start date is expected to be between September 18th to 20th. Because September 18 is a Saturday and September 19 is a Sunday, you are more likely to want to re-start it on a weekend date,” a BCCI official stated. Prior to the suspension of the IPL 2021, RCB were third on the points table with five victories from seven games.
