Adar Poonawalla, the CEO of Serum Institute of India revealed that India won’t be allowing export of the recently approved vaccination to other countries for several months. SEC approved the vaccination for emergency authorization on the condition that Serum does not export the shots to ensure that the vulnerable population of India is protected & prioritized and the company has been barred from selling the vaccine in private markets & will only supply first 100 million doses to the Indian government. The COVAX export will only begin by April 2021.
