Singer and composer Adnan Sami recently opened up about his deep bond with the legendary Lata Mangeshkar, recalling a profoundly personal moment when she brought comfort to his ailing father. In an interview, Adnan shared that during the final stages of his father’s battle with pancreatic cancer, he reached out to the late singer in an emotional moment of helplessness.
He recalled how she graciously agreed to speak with his father, who was then semi-conscious. As Adnan handed over the phone, his father’s face lit up with joy. He told Lata Mangeshkar he had been listening to her songs since childhood, and mentioned that one of his favourites was Dheere Se Aaja. In response, Lata sang the song over the call. According to Adnan, tears rolled down his father’s cheeks, and he looked peaceful in that moment. It was a gesture that left a lasting impression on Adnan and spoke volumes about her warmth.
Adnan also shared a lighter memory, revealing that Lata Mangeshkar had a creative side beyond music. She had a strong interest in photography and photo editing. When Adnan’s daughter was born, he sent her pictures from Germany. Lata Mangeshkar would edit those photos herself, zooming in on details she liked, adjusting colours, and cropping them before sending them back.
The singer is currently in the spotlight for his new track Aao Na with Asha Bhosle, featuring Avinash Mishra and Eisha Singh in the music video.
