Adrien Brody talks about his experience collaborating alongside an iconic rapper of the 90s

Adrien Brody is taking a walk down memory lane, reflecting on a special time in his career when he worked alongside none other than the legendary rapper Tupac Shakur. In a recent conversation with Variety, the Darjeeling Limited star opened up about his early days in Hollywood and credited the 1996 film Bullet as his breakout role.

The gritty crime drama, which also featured Mickey Rourke and the Hit ‘Em Up rapper, was a pivotal moment for Brody, both professionally and personally. Talking about his experience working with Tupac, the French Dispatch actor described it as “wonderful,” emphasizing how focused and dedicated the rapper was on set.

Brody revealed that he and Tupac spent a lot of time together during filming, often hanging out off-set as well. “He became really close with Mickey, and Mickey kind of took me under his wing back then,” he shared, reminiscing about their nights out and behind-the-scenes moments.

At the time, Tupac was already making waves in the music industry, but according to Brody, he hadn’t yet reached the iconic level of superstardom that he would later achieve. “He had a big rap career, but he wasn’t Tupac yet,” Brody recalled. “He didn’t even have ‘Thug Life’ tattooed on his chest yet.”

One particularly vivid memory? A graffiti session where Tupac tagged “Thung Life” on a wall. Brody admitted he had no idea what it meant at the time, only later realizing how significant those words would become in Tupac’s legacy.

As for Brody’s latest projects, the Oscar-winning actor continues to make waves in Hollywood. His newest film, The Brutalist, tells the story of an architect who leaves postwar Europe behind to start fresh in America, navigating the challenges of rebuilding both his career and personal life. The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn, Felicity Jones, Emma Laird, Raffey Cassidy, Stacy Martin, Alessandro Nivola, and Natalie Shinnick.

With a career that’s spanned decades and brought him face-to-face with some of the most iconic figures in entertainment, Brody’s journey remains as fascinating as ever.
