Actor Agastya Nanda is leaving no stone unturned as he prepares for one of the most defining roles of his career in ‘Ikkis’, an upcoming war drama directed by Sriram Raghavan. The film chronicles the life of Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military honour.
Speaking at a media interaction, Agastya shared that his preparation involved closely studying iconic Indian war films. Among them was ‘Major Saab’, starring his grandfather Amitabh Bachchan, along with titles such as ‘Border’ and ‘Refugee’. He described these films as classics that helped him understand the emotional and physical world of soldiers, while also noting that Ikkis explores a different segment of the Indian Army.
Despite coming from one of Hindi cinema’s most celebrated families, Agastya revealed that film discussions are off-limits at home. He explained that the Bachchan household follows a strict dining-table rule of not talking about movies, leaving actors to “figure it out” on their own. While his family is aware of the project and excited about it, creative guidance remains minimal.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, Ikkis is scheduled for release on January 1, 2026. For Agastya, the film carries personal significance. After making his debut with The Archies in 2023 and facing mixed reviews, he sees Ikkis as a crucial opportunity to prove his capabilities as an actor, expressing gratitude for the faith shown in him by the film’s producer and director.
