An Air India flight for Delhi from Udaipur was forced to make an emergency landing on Monday after the mobile battery of a passenger exploded during the flight’s take-off. No casualties are reported and all 140 passengers are safe.
Post the inspection at Udaipur’s Dabok airport, the flight was permitted to depart for Delhi. This is the second incident, in the last couple of days, which has brought the airline to the headlines.
Earlier, a passenger on board abused and assaulted a senior Air India official on the flight to Sydney from Delhi on July 8. Reportedly, the incident occurred post a spat unruly behaviour mid-air.
It happened when the Air India official had to move from his business class seat to economy, due to some issue in his seat. According to the sources, he was asked to sit in row 30 but since there were other passengers, he sat in row 25.
The cabin supervisor had to get involved to contain the rowdy passenger. Not only did he issue a verbal and written warning to the passenger, the person was also handed over to security post landing.
