Congress national secretary K C Venugopal announced on Wednesday that Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav will take part in the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Sitamarhi, Bihar, on August 28. He said that the “mass movement against vote theft” would be strengthened even further by Yadav’s involvement in the yatra headed by Rahul Gandhi and other Mahagathbandhan leaders.
“Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and President of Samajwadi Party Shri Akhilesh Yadav ji will join the Voter Adhikar Yatra in Sitamarhi, Bihar on 28 August,” Venugopal wrote in an article on X. “Akhilesh ji’s joining this yatra being led by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi ji, former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav ji and senior leaders of INDIA bloc will further strengthen our mass movement against vote theft!” he stated.
The yatra took a break on Wednesday and will resume on Thursday from Nalanda. Like Gandhi’s Manipur to Mumbai Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which took place in advance of the Lok Sabha elections, the yatra started on Sunday from Sasaram and arrived in Nalanda on Tuesday. It is being conducted in a hybrid fashion, using both foot and vehicle transportation.
Supaul, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, East Champaran, West Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Chhapra, Ara, Munger, Bhagalpur, Katihar, Purnea, and Araria will also be traversed.
