Akira Toriyama, creator of iconic ‘Dragon Ball’, passes away at 68

Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super and Sand Land creator Akira Toriyama has passed away. The renowned manga creator was sixty-eight years old. On the Dragon Ball website, the devastating news of his death was announced. According to the announcement, Akira Toriyama’s cause of death was an acute subdural hematoma. The news of his demise shocked both Dragon Ball fans and the anime world.

Bird Studio and Capsule Corporation Tokyo wrote in the tweet, “It’s our deep regret that he still had several works in the middle of creation with great enthusiasm. Also, he would have many more things to achieve.”

It further added, “However, he has left many manga titles and works of art to this world. Thanks to the support of so many people round the world, he has been able to continue his creative activities over 45 years. We hope that Akira Toriyama’s unique world of creation continue to be loved by everyone for a long time to come.”

Toriyama introduced Dragon Ball in 1984. The manga has been adapted to the screen and has grown in popularity over the last few decades.
