Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is looking to revisit his roots as an action star, voicing a strong preference for realistic stunts over the increasing use of visual effects and artificial intelligence in films. Known for his early work in high-energy action cinema, the actor now wants to bring back a style that relies on physical performance rather than digital enhancement.
Reflecting on the shift in filmmaking over the years, Akshay pointed out how action sequences today often depend heavily on technology, making them appear less believable. He stressed that earlier films relied on real, on-ground stunts, which added a sense of authenticity that he feels is missing now.
The actor, who earned the nickname “Khiladi” through his popular action films, built his career with titles like Mohra, Suhaag, Elaan, and Jaanwar. Even in recent years, he has headlined action-driven projects such as Holiday, Gabbar is Back, and Sooryavanshi. However, he believes the essence of action cinema has changed significantly.
Trained in multiple martial arts forms including Karate, Muay Thai, Taekwondo, and Kudo, Akshay emphasised his commitment to performing his own stunts. He explained that real action brings a level of effort and intensity that audiences can genuinely feel, unlike sequences enhanced through AI or computer-generated effects.
Drawing a comparison, he described practical action as a hand-made painting imperfect yet authentic, while digitally created visuals resemble flawless prints that lack soul. With this approach, Akshay hopes to create films that feel raw, grounded, and real.
