Akshay Oberoi opens up on intense action training for Yash-starrer Toxic

Actor Akshay Oberoi is set to make his South cinema debut with Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, starring Yash in the lead, and the actor says the film pushed him far beyond his previous action work. Stepping into a full-fledged action role, Oberoi underwent rigorous combat training in the lead-up to the shoot, a process he describes as both demanding and deeply fulfilling.

Speaking about his preparation, the actor revealed that he trained intensively for nearly a month before filming began and continued his physical drills throughout the shoot. While action is not new territory for him, Oberoi admitted that Toxic required a different level of commitment. The focus, he said, went beyond building strength and involved developing endurance, precision, and a strong mind–body connection.

Oberoi, who has a background in martial arts from a young age, recalled how learning detailed choreography for each action sequence was one of the most exciting aspects of the project. He credited the experience to a world-class action team brought together from across the globe, adding that working with them made the demanding training process enjoyable.

He also spoke highly of sharing screen space with Yash, calling the experience slick and energising. According to Oberoi, performing action alongside the film’s main protagonist added to the scale and intensity of the sequences. With the teaser now out, he believes audiences have already seen a glimpse of the film’s larger-than-life vision. Directed by Geethu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is scheduled for a theatrical release later this year.
