Alaska will now witness the next sunrise in January 2021

On thursday, the Alaskan town of Utqingvik which is located north to the Artic Circle witnessed the sunset for the last time in 2020 as it entered its annual phase of darkness called ‘polar night’. Because of the tilt of the Earth’s axis which makes none of the Sun’s disc visible above the horizon. Utqiagvik will next see daylight after 60 days.
