Alia Bhatt reacts to backlash after winning sixth Filmfare Award for Jigra; pens emotional note of gratitude

Alia Bhatt has addressed the ongoing debate surrounding her recent Filmfare win for Jigra. On Sunday, the actor shared an emotional note on Instagram after bagging her sixth Best Actress trophy, expressing gratitude towards her colleagues and fans who made the film special for her.

In her message, Alia described the win as one that would “stay closest to her heart,” not only because of the story but also because of the people who brought it to life. She thanked director Vasan Bala and her co-star Vedang Raina, along with Vivek Gomber, Manoj Pahwa, and the rest of the team for their honesty and creativity. “Thank you for seeing it the way you did,” she wrote, addressing her director.

The actor also extended her thanks to Filmfare for the recognition, saying she wished she could have been present to celebrate the moment in person. Calling it a “full-circle moment,” she credited Karan Johar, Dharma Movies, and Eternal Sunshine Productions for coming together on the project and thanked her sister Shaheen Bhatt for being her calm through it all.

However, Alia’s win has sparked a wave of mixed reactions online. While some fans celebrated her milestone achievement surpassing legends like Kajol and Nutan others questioned whether she truly deserved the honour. Despite the criticism, Alia chose to end her note on a poetic tone, quoting a line from Jigra’s song, “Tenu Sang Rakhna,” expressing contentment and gratitude for the journey.
