The Baggies took the lead thanks to a precise finish from Hal Robson-Kanu, but the Reds were level by halftime thanks to a clinical Mohamed Salah curler from 20 yards. Jürgen Klopp’s team hit the crossbar, and both teams had goals ruled out for offside, making the game appear destined to end in a draw. But, with Liverpool’s final chance, Alisson went up for a corner and met Trent Alexander-Arnold’s delivery with a superbly accurate header into the net.

Having raced up to join the fray, Alisson was unmarked as he headed in Alexander-Arnold’s corner, becoming the first-ever Liverpool goalkeeper to score a competitive goal. Alisson is the sixth goalkeeper to score in the Premier League.

With two games remaining, the Reds have moved to within one point of Chelsea and three points of Leicester City in the race for Champions League qualification.
