Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to step down, Andy Jassy to take over in Q3

Jeff Bezos will step down from his post as CEO of Amazon later this year. The company’s top cloud executive, Andy Jassy, will take over his position according to an announcement on Tuesday. Jeff Bezos will be the executive chairman of Amazon’s board.

“I’m excited to announce that this Q3 I’ll transition to Executive Chair of the Amazon Board and Andy Jassy will become CEO,” Bezos said in a letter to employees. He also wrote “Andy is well known inside the company and has been at Amazon almost as long as I have. He will be an outstanding leader, and he has my full confidence.”

Bezos will be still be involved in Amazon’s important projects but he will focus more on Bezos Earth Fund, Blue Origin spaceship company, The Washington Post, and the Amazon Day 1 Fund.
