Amazon preponed its event due to the Olympics which is likely to begin in the next month. The Prime Day will take place in 20 countries including US, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Italy and Japan from June 21 to June 22.
The sales event was started by Amazon in the year 2015 as a response to Singles’ day in China . It is a shopping holiday in China popularized by Chinese e-commerce company Alibaba. Prime day has turned to be one of the Amazon’s biggest shopping day. The event gives Amazon an opportunity to get people sign up for its $119 a year Prime membership. The membership gets shoppers faster shipping and access to the deal.
Walmart, Best Buy, Target and other retailers have offered their own discount in the previous years during the prime day to grab shopper’s attention looking for deals online.
