Amazon under Enforcement Directorate’s clutches for the second time

According to a news report published by Reuters, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) will begin its second investigation into multinational e-commerce company Amazon. The report stated that Amazon used a group of sellers by giving them preferential treatment to “circumvent” India’s FDI rules.

“We will be examining findings of the story. The subject matter is not entirely new for us,” the ED said.

Amazon has denied the allegations by the agency on Twitter with a series of tweets claiming that the company has always been “compliant with Indian laws”

“We are single-minded focused on using technology to digitally empower businesses of all sizes, in a fair, transparent, and non-discriminatory manner, so that they can realize their true potential,” said Amazon India chief Amit Agarwal.
