Amid India-Maldives row, EaseMyTrip suspends all flight bookings to island-nation

In a significant move during the boycott Maldives campaign online, EaseMyTrip decided to suspend all Maldives flight bookings in response to insulting statements made by a few ministers, who have already been suspended, about India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his recent visit to Lakshadweep.

In support of India, Nishant Pitti, co-founder and CEO of the Indian online travel company, took to social media platform X and stated, “In solidarity with our nation, @EaseMyTrip has suspended all Maldives flight bookings.”

EaseMyTrip, an online travel solutions company, started the #ChaloLakshadweep campaign to visit Lakshadweep. EaseMyTrip, headquartered in New Delhi, was founded in 2008 by Nishant Pitti, Rikant Pitti and Prashant Pitti.

In his post on January 4, Prashant Pitti penned, “Water & beaches of Lakshadweep are as good as Maldives/Seychelles We at @EaseMyTrip will come up with crazy special-offers to promote this pristine destination that our PM @narendramodi has recently visited!”

Following the India-Maldives row, the hashtag #BoycottMaldives gained traction on social media, with many Indian tourists reportedly cancelling their scheduled holidays to the island country.
