Amit Shah and his committee approve Rs. 3113 crore for disaster relief aid

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and his high level committee on Saturday announced that they have approved Rs. 3113 crore for distribution among 5 states that were hit severely by natural calamities likes cyclones, floods and pest attacks in 2020. Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Puducherry are the States and Union Territories which will receive additional assistance from National Disaster Risk Management Fund.

Andhra Pradesh will receive about Rs. 280.78 crore, Bihar gets Rs. 1255.27 crore and Tamil Nadu will receive a total amount of Rs. 286.91 crore from which Rs. 63.14 crore is allocated for cyclone Nivar and Rs. 223.77 crore are allotted for cyclone Burevi. While UT of Puducherry will receive Rs. 9.91 and Madhya Pradesh gets Rs. 1280.18 crore for the pest attacks it faced during Kharif season.

Central government in the financial year 2020-21 so far has released over Rs. 19,036.43 crore for 28 states in State Disaster Relief Management Fund and Rs. 4409.71 crore to 11 states from NDRMF.
