On Saturday, Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar said that the Real Time Governance System would be used to track paddy purchases in the state in real time. He asked officials to provide total transparency and stated that all aspects of the procurement process would be available via a central dashboard. The Real Time Governance System will be used to track paddy purchases in real time.
Following an official workshop, Manohar stated in a press release that “a dashboard will provide access to every part of the process.” The announcement coincides with the state’s goal to purchase 51 lakh tonnes of paddy during the fiscal year 2025–2026 Kharif season.
According to Manohar, the procedure ought to happen in a “festive atmosphere” without causing farmers any hardship. He gave officials instructions to use planning to resolve problems found during the previous procurement season. He advised joint collectors to avoid middlemen interfering in the delivery of gunny bags and told them to organise ahead of time for labourers, transport facilities, and gunny bags.
The minister also urged that agreements explicitly state that rice millers must strictly execute their pledge to not recycle rice from the Public Distribution System. Rice millers who can deliver rice to the Food Corporation of India within 60 days should be given priority, officials were instructed.
Manohar instructed staff to have tarpaulin sheets available ahead of time if needed, recalling that 30,000 were supplied last year owing to unseasonable rainfall. He stated that growers are free to sell their produce to any mill at the price they choose, emphasising that the NDA government is taking a “farmer-friendly approach.”
With the assurance that funds would be sent to their accounts within 48 hours of the sale, he noted that farmers may participate in the paddy procurement process by simply sending a “hi” message on WhatsApp.
