Angad Bedi and Neha Dhupia recently appeared on Farah Khan’s YouTube channel, where the couple welcomed her into their Mumbai home for a warm, candid tour. While the walls were decorated with cherished memories, one corner in particular caught Farah’s attention, an area dedicated to Angad’s father, the legendary cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi. Framed photographs from his celebrated cricketing years surrounded a single gold medal placed thoughtfully among them.
Curious about the story behind the medal, Farah asked Angad to share its significance. What followed was an emotional revelation. Angad recounted how he won the gold medal at the International Masters 2023 Athletics Championship, held in Abu Dhabi, just four days after his father passed away on October 23.
Angad explained that the race was deeply connected to his father’s dream. “When my father was unwell, he wished that I do something for the country. He wanted me to run,” he told Farah. Keeping that promise, Angad competed in the 400m race and dedicated the victory to his late father. “I said I won’t put a garland for him, I will put the medal,” he shared, leaving the room emotional.
Bishan Singh Bedi, regarded as one of India’s greatest left-arm spinners, passed away at 77 after a prolonged illness. Seeing Angad’s gold medal alongside the cricket legend’s iconic photographs made the moment even more powerful.
