Angelina Jolie’s new movie gets an Indian OTT release date

Those Who Wish Me Dead streams in India from June 10 on BookMyShow Stream

Angelina Jolie’s new movie ‘Those Who Wish Me Dead’ is all set to stream from 10 June in India. The streaming rights for the movie in the Indian region have been bagged by BookMyShow Stream. The movie releases in theatres and simultaneously streams on Warner Media’s streaming service HBO Max in the United States.

This is Warner Bros’ first movie to debut directly in a video-on-demand format in the Indian market during the second wave of the Covid – 19 pandemic that the country is facing, signaling a major change in the studio’s theatrical-release-only approach it had strongly held onto for the Indian Market previously. However, two of Warner Media’s previous releases – Zack Snyder’s Justice League and Mortal Kombat – cannot be considered as a testament to VoD service in India since the former was never meant to release in cinemas and the latter did release in select theatres in 5 Indian states. However, Warner Media does not seem to be fully embracing this strategy for all its movies. Warner Bros. India gave an official statement on Twitter that Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It will be given an exclusive theatrical release in India once theatres reopen. This may possibly be due to the IMAX format offered by the third Conjuring installment, unlike Those Who Wish Me Dead.

The movie is co-written and directed by Taylor Sheridan, who had previously worked on 2016’s critically acclaimed Neo-Western movie ‘Hell or High Water’ for which he has received an Oscar nomination. The movie has a stellar cast including Angelina Jolie, Nicholas Hoult, Aidan Gillen, Jon Bernthal, Tyler Perry, Jake Weber, James Jordan, and Tory Kittles. Those Who Wish Me Dead is a neo-western action thriller that tells the story of Hannah, a smoke-jumper (firefighters whose job is to stop wildfires) who is in charge of a child named Connor, who is being hunted by a couple of deadly assassins.

Those Who Wish Me Dead will be available for viewing on BookMyShow Stream, Google Play Movies, Hungama Play, Tata Sky, Apple TV, and YouTube Movies from Thursday, 10 June 2021.
