Sri Lankan former captain and experienced all-rounder Angelo Mathews reportedly to miss the upcoming white-ball tour of England due to paternity leave. Angelo’s wife is expecting their third child, and as a concern, the all-rounder will be on leave for the upcoming tour of England.
Team selectors have indicated that they are trying to build a youth-looking team for the next ODI World Cup in 2023, and it was in reports that Angelo Mathews was also supposed to drop from the tour of England, but the latest report from Island Cricket suggests that former captain is handed with paternity leave.
The 34-year-old experienced all-rounder was also not part of the team in the recent three-match ODI series against Bangladesh, where the Sri Lankan lost 2-1. And with this series loss, Sri Lanka is currently at the bottom of the World Cup Super League points table.
