Television actor Anita Hassanandani has opened up about the changing financial landscape of the TV industry, saying that pay cuts have become common in recent years. In a candid conversation on a podcast with Hindi Rush, the actor shared that budgets have significantly decreased, and many artists are now accepting lower pay to stay active in the profession.
Anita, who recently made a successful comeback with the show Suman Indori after a four-year break, admitted that she was paid less than what she used to earn earlier. Reflecting on the shift, she explained, “Earlier, TV actors were paid more, but now the budgets have gone down. There are so many shows and platforms, and also, some actors agree to work for less. So people think it’s better to save money.”
She further mentioned that the decline began after the Covid-19 pandemic, as production houses cited financial losses. “All of this started post-Covid, as everyone had reasons that due to Covid there were losses. When I came back, I got less than what my per-day pay used to be,” she shared.
Despite the pay cut, Anita said she didn’t let it affect her decision to return to television. For her, the focus was on getting back to work rather than negotiating for money. The actor, best known for her roles in Kkavyanjali, Kasamh Se, and Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, recently gained attention after winning the reality show Chhoriyan Chali Gaon.
