Another blow to Sharad Pawar: All seven MLAs of NCP in Nagaland rally behind Ajit Pawar

In a significant blow to Sharad Pawar, all seven MLAs of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Nagaland have shown their support for Ajit Pawar. The seven MLAs from north-eastern state issued a statement on Thursday, where they stated that the party workers in the Nagaland NCP will also support Ajit Pawar.

Earlier this month, Ajit Pawar caused split in the party as he rebelled against his uncle and founder of NCP, Sharad Pawar, by joining the Maharashtra Shiv Sena and BJP alliance.

Ajit’s move is similar to how Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde separated from Shiv Sena when Uddhav Thackeray was the CM.

After ending its alliance with BJP in 2019, Shiv Sena formed Maha Vikas Aghadi with Congress and NCP. However, the alliance broke when Shinde rebelled and joined hands with BJP to form a new government. Later, Shiv Sena and BJP alliance was joined by Ajit Pawar, who took oath as Deputy Chief Minister of the state on July 2.

Ajit Pawar has also received support from senior leaders of the party such as Praful Patel and Chhagan Bhujbal.
