In a bid to compete with OpenAI, Google and other tech companies, Apple is developing an artificial intelligence tool, as claimed by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his new report. The company has already built a chatbot internally known as ‘Apple GPT’.
Apple has not yet decided any date for the launch of its platform, however, an announcement is expected next year.
The AI project at Apple is being handled by multiple teams, led by John Giannandrea, head of machine learning and AI, and a top software engineering executive, Craig Federighi, as per the report.
The report added that the tech giant has developed its own framework called “Ajax” for building large language models. Ajax was built using Google JAX and it operates on Google Cloud. Apple is utlising Ajax to develop its large language models and as the foundation for its internal chatbot, similar to ChatGPT.
Within Apple, the chatbot has come across as quite useful as employees can prototype products and provides answers based on its training. However, the chatbot do not offer any unique feature, beyond what’s already available on commercially offered Bing AI, Bard, and ChatGPT, as per the report.
